ENERGY MANAGEMENT

ISO 50001

ISO 50001 (“Energy Management Systems-Requirements and Guidelines for Use”) offers organizations in any sector, both private and public, management strategies that aim to bring:

  • An increase in energy efficiency
  • a reduction in costs
  • an improvement in energy performance, which must therefore be integrated into the management of the organization’s daily activities.

Indeed, the goal of ISO 50001 is to enable organizations to implement and maintain an Energy Management System (EMS) that enables them to continuously improve their energy performance.

The latest version of the standard was published in 2018. With the new version, ISO 50001 has also been aligned with the high level structure (HLS), a kind of “common skeleton” to normative management system standards, which allows them to be more integrated and facilitates their implementation, benefiting organizations that choose to adopt them.
